From The Desk of: Adrian Hines Re: The State of the Church
Hi, I’m Adrian Hines and I am a preacher, author, and internet entrepreneur. I gotta admit, I'm seriously concerned about the state of the Church. Despite all the technology advancements we've made and the availability of the Bible through any medium we choose, I believe in this era, we are the most illiterate group of disciples since Jesus left the earth.
The evidence is seen in how we live our lives, the state of the world, how we are so easily swayed by any teaching that pleases our flesh, and the lack of victory we experience in life. I'm sick of it. And I'm on a mission to lead a biblical education reform in the body of Christ. Much like King Josiah did with Jerusalem in the Old Testament. I want to help other Believers live their best life - the life Jesus designed for us.
I've been living the ALL IN life for the past 17 years. I'm not saying that to brag at all, there's no boasting in my flesh, it's all because of God's grace. It's Him that lives in me to will and to act according to His good pleasure.
I bring it up to show the commitment level that I've exemplified in my life over a long period of time. One that Jesus actually requires from His followers...go figure ;).
We should all be able to be living epistles as Paul wrote about in 2 Corinthians, modeling lives that others can follow, because we live like Jesus.
I'm here to tell the TRUTH that ALL born again Believers need to know about when it comes to being a true disciple of Jesus Christ.
In fact, here's the biggest problem I believe many Believers face right now. It's the same problem that I had and wasn't even aware of for the longest. And please understand that I am coming from a place of love, compassion, and empathy - not judgement.
I believe the biggest problem is the self deception within our own mind and heart (not discerning good and evil) - due to us being illiterate on the word of God.
Here's what I mean by that. I believe many of us are deceiving ourselves with the lives we live. We may have said the little prayer to "get saved". But our lives don't show much if any change at all.
But that's not the end of the problem. It actually gets worse!
Why?
Jesus said in Matthew 7:23 "I never knew you, depart from Me you worker of iniquity." But who was He talking to? If you read the previous verse, you'd see that He was talking to people that call Him Lord. People that performed all these signs and wonders in His name. People that did great spiritual acts. People that cast out demons. In other words, He was talking to some Christians.
So why was Jesus "sending" these "Christians" to hell?
Because they didn't change their thinking and heart to line up with His word. Which in turn meant they didn't change their actions. So while they were on earth, they weren't living their best life the way Jesus truly designed it. They were living a fake life and didn't even know it. And even more tragic, they'll now spend eternity away from the Father - in hell.
The sad thing is, most church going Christians have the idea that they can live any type of way and it's cool with God as long as we say we're Christians. I know I did.
Which is why I believe the Lord has told me to write this book. There's now a relevant and timely solution to this problem that's plaguing the body of Christ! And please believe me, I am NOT throwing stones nor judging you or anybody else.
But before we get into that, let me share a quick story with you...
There I was after I graduated from high school, a modern day Pharisee trying to live life how I wanted while calling myself a Christian. I was going to church and doing all the things that "good Christians" do. Went to Sunday school, tithed on the regular, read and prayed from time to time (even in tongues). I even led others to Christ. But I was also allowing my flesh to rule me. I allowed it to do whatever it desired, unchecked.
Then something horrific happened. I died and went to hell. I didn't know why I was there. I fooled myself thinking I was going to spend eternity with God but in reality I wasn't, I was going to be in hell forever.
Then, as if by God's mercy, something amazing happened...
When I got out of hell (I explain how in the book), it instantly became crystal clear to me where I went wrong and most importantly, how to live as a true disciple of Jesus. I saw I could now live my best life, a life of complete surrender to the Almighty, yet having limitless freedom.
My immediate plan was to change my environment completely. So I started throwing my rap cds in the garbage (don't judge me, this was early 2000). But I didn’t stop there. I then stopped hanging around certain people that could influence me more than I could influence them. After that, I joined a new church and began studying the Bible consistently on my own. I began to educate myself on what the word of God says about how I should live.
Those simple yet hard decisions at the time helped put my life on an upward trajectory.
Bottom line: In the end I was able to lay a solid unshakeable foundation with the Lord so no matter what happened in life, I was able to stay standing by God's grace through the storms of life, while keeping my faith in Him.
I'm not saying that I didn't sin anymore. I'm not saying that I had it all figured out and didn't have moments where God had to correct me...but I am saying that I was a whole lot quicker to confess my rebellion and trust that God already forgave me. What can I say, I wanted to live a life that pleased the Lord.
Building on those consistent wins, I decided to write about my journey in a book and share it with other Believers.
I call it “ALL IN”.
With ALL IN I show how I now live a life of fulfillment, freedom, purpose, and dominion - all because I made a simple decision to surrender my will for His will!
